Peace Island Beach Park
Peace Island is once called “Sheliao Island.” It is a small island in the east of Keelung harbor. The unique view of ocean erosion has made this area a famous touring spot in Keelung. Walk along the mountain-surrounded path, you can reach “sight seeing pavilion” at the highest spot. The view is terrific from high to low. It is a best location for rocks observation. It is also the location to experience one of the “eight great views of Keelung”—“Silvery waves of Sheliao.”
The various ocean-eroded landscape, mushroom rocks, bean curd rocks, and a large scale of bean curd rocks shaped as Japanese couches. After enjoy the ocean-eroded view, don’t forget to search for the famous “cave of Dutch words”—the possible military base before the withdrawal of Dutch military. The Dutch characters carved in the cave are indefinable because of the ocean-erosion of the cave wall. However, one can still imagine the golden age of the history.
1. Visitors can take 101 and 205city bus forward to Peace Island. Get off at Peace Bridge and walk for approximately 20 minutes.
2. Drive along Coast Rd., turn to Jheng-bin Rd. at National Taiwan Ocean University. Drive along He-yi Rd. after Peace Bridge and turn left to Ping-yi Rd.
